The Timaru Colouring Book was created out of a desire to offer something unique and meaningful for both locals and visitors. As a Timaru-born artist, I’ve always admired the beauty and history of this city, but I noticed a lack of interactive keepsakes that truly captured what makes Timaru special. There were plenty of postcards and traditional souvenirs, but nothing that allowed people to engage with the city’s landmarks in a creative way.

With my background in illustration and design, I set out to fill this gap by creating a one-of-a-kind book that would showcase Timaru’s charm while also educating people on its rich history. I spent years researching, sketching, and refining each page, carefully selecting iconic locations and landmarks that hold significance to the community. Each illustration is accompanied by a bite-sized historical write-up, making this more than just a colouring book—it’s a storytelling experience that connects people to the city in a personal and interactive way.

Since its launch, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the book selling out twice due to high demand. This has reinforced my belief that people truly want to celebrate and learn more about the place they call home. To keep up with demand, I’ve increased the latest print run, ensuring that more people have the chance to own this unique and educational keepsake.
